APPLICATIONS ARE NOW OPEN!

Applications for the 2022-2023 season are open! Our team's application is located here. Applications should be emailed and shared with the email: applications@quixilver8404.org by May 22nd, 2022, at 11:59 PM, PST.

  • We also recommend a recommendation form to be filled out by a teacher or other professional mentor you have had the chance to work with. This is an optional part of the application, so not having a letter of recommendation submitted will not be held against any applicant.
  • This year, we have decided to hold tryouts around the time that this school year ends, so we will be sending out tryout dates to everyone that fills out the application a couple of weeks before that.
  • The only prerequisites are enthusiasm, dedication and passion, so no prior experience is needed! During the summer, we will contact each applicant to coordinate tryout dates!

MORE DETAILS ABOUT APPLICATION/TRYOUTS

We are limited to a 15 member team as per FTC Robotics rules. Thus, we (current members) conduct tryouts each season to determine who will be a part of our team. Tryouts(tentatively 9am to 4pm) will be hosted at Leland High School in Mr. Kevin Tibb's room (F9) - assuming COVID-19 is no longer an issue next year - and consist of students participating in four sessions (3 challenges, 1 interview) and a presentation. Each applicant will be required to fill out an online application form prior to tryouts (general questionnaire and marking the dates that students are available to attend). At tryouts, students will be randomly assigned into groups of 3-4 which they will work with throughout the entire day.

No prior knowledge is required to attend tryouts; we are looking for students who are passionate and excited about learning in general and can conduct themselves in a professional and collaborative way.
